ProForm 5.0 QuickStart Folding Treadmill

ProForm 5.0 QuickStart Folding Treadmill The ProForm family is joined by the QuickStart 5.0 - and a welcome addition it is too. In keeping with the fresh approach to treadmills taken by ProForm, the 5.0 comes almost fully assembled and is packed with a host of features.

As with other models in the QuickStart range you are literally up and running in minutes. All you need to do is take the mill out of box, pop it where you want to use it, lift up the console and tighten a few bolts. Once you have plugged it in and popped the safety key in place you can start using the machine. Its solid to boot, with a maximum user weight of 130KG, or about 20.5 stone for those who haven't moved to metric measurements.

The QuickStart 5.0 has enough programmes to keep things interesting. 6 Professionally designed programmes have speed and incline goals and another 6 have specific calorie goals. Should you wish to just get on and run the 5.0 has full manual control too.

As you may have heard from reading some of our other reviews, we really think that monitoring your heart rate during a workout is one of the keys to success. Although the 5.0 does not have heart rate control functionality, it does have an EKG heart rate monitor built in. Just grab hold of the pulse grip sensors and in moments your current heart rate will be displayed on the LCD screen.

So let's tell you more about the screen. It's nice and clear and does exactly what you need it to, giving you all the workout data you need during your run. Distance, speed, time, pulse, incline and theoretical calories burned are all shown in pin sharp black and white.

The QuickStart 5.0 features a 1.75 horsepower continuous duty motor, providing a smooth delivery of power throughout the incline and speed options. In fact it was a lot quieter than we expected all the way up to the top speed of 16 kph.

Going back to the incline, the 5.0 has a 1 touch incline adjustment so you can alter the incline from 0% to 5% at the touch of a button. Granted it's not the steepest of inclines but it is still challenging for most users.

For those of you that need to, or would like to take care of their joints the 5.0 benefits from ProSoft cushioning. This makes for a very comfortable run and according to the manual it reduces impact by 15%

Once the workout is over, reclaim a few square feet by quickly and easily folding the 5.0 away. Its self locking catch is a nice safety feature which is important if there are little ones around.

So in summary this is a great entry level treadmill with some features that normally only appear on pricier machines.
