BH Fitness Prisma M50 Treadmill Review

Best UK Price              Specification              Pros and Cons              Reviewers Ratings

BH Fitness Prisma M50 Treadmill from Sweatband The BH Fitness Prisma M50 treadmill is a very stylish machine from the innovative Prisma range. The price puts it up against some pretty stiff competition, but on the whole we'd say it comes out close to the top as there's quite a few impressive features.

The first is the popular Plug & Play system. Once out of the packaging the Prisma M50 is ready to use in minutes. We get quite a few emails from people complaining about confusing assembly instructions or the manufacturer assuming you have a degree in electronics!

You get none of this hassle with this machine, you just unpack, twist the odd knob and you're ready to go. Plus when you're finished it's easy to fold up and move if you need to store it away when not in use.

See BH Fitness's video below to see the Prisma M50 in action.

The next stand-out feature on the Prisma M50 is the patented "A-Wings" system, BH Fitness's unique way to construct the running deck. With traditional treadmills the platforms where you put your feet at the side of the belt are an integral part of the deck, with the belt running in between. The "A-Wings" on the Prisma range are a bolt-on extension meaning the running belt can be much wider filling some of the area where the platforms would be.

Because of the shape of the "A-Wings", the treadmill frame can be the same size as other treadmills. The effect is that you get a wide running area that can live within a compact frame. Although the running deck appears short on paper - 125cm - because it's so wide - 55cm (at least 4cm wider than its competitors) - you don't notice. It gives the impression that you're running on a much bigger machine.

To quote one of our reviewers -"I found that I didn't need to keep looking down at where my feet are which I normally feel the need to do with narrower decks."

In addition to the width, the deck is well cushioned with a sliht springy feel which is good news for your knees.

The range of programs is what you'd expect of a machine in this price bracket with the exception of heart rate controlled. If you like loads of variation in your training you may be put off by this but we reackon 90% of treadmill users would be more than happy with what's on offer here.

The console is very easy to use, see below, with one-touch buttons for speed, incline and programme selection. It gives a good level of feedback and the backlit blue screen is easy to read. There are also buttons in the handles to alter speed and incline settings - a nice touch we thought. The console displays your heart rate which is measured by the grips, also on the handles.

The 3HP motor comes with a 10 year warranty and easily copes with driving the belt up to 11mph (18 km/h) which is more than enough fot most treadmill runners. It's smooth in operation and quiet enough not to disturb anyone in the next room. The motor is designed for up to 7 hours use a week which is probably enough for up to two people to get a decent workout.

It has an excellent warranty, the motor and frame are covered for 10 years, everything else has two years parts and labour.

In brief:
The BH Fitness Prisma M50 is an excellent machine in our view with the feel of a much bigger model. You get the benefits of a wide, comfortable running deck with a compact machine that's easy to store away. It's up against some tried and tested warhorses such as the York T301 and Nordictrack C2500 but they're starting to look a little dated compared to this innovative machine. We like it and happy to recommend it.
