Horizon Elite 507 Treadmill Review

TheĀ Horizon Elite 507 treadmillcomes in the middle of their growing range of machines and for its price it packs quite a punch. Horizon are developing a reputation for cramming features into their models that you don’t expect to see for that price.

The Elite 507 follows that trend with a top speed of 12mph, a good sized running deck plus not one, but two heart control programmes to keep you burning those calories and get fit fast. However, as with all heart rate programmes we recommend you use the wireless a strap (not included) with the polar chip (included) as having to hold the grips whilst running is not the best way to train in our experience.

One new feature on this model is the use of ‘Ergowheels’ on the handles allowing you to change speed and incline without having to alter your running position. We liked this feature as you don’t have to break your stride to alter the set-up, although it took a little time to get the hang of it.

As said earlier, the running deck is a good size and the thick 4.4mm belt is very comfortable to run on even for long periods and has the feel of a commercial model costing three times as much! The 2.5 HP motor is quiet and has no problems shifting the large belt at 12mph.

It’s a good looking machine and appears to be well-made with quality components and although the handles did move a little at top speed it doesn’t diminish the running experience. It has a good range of programmes to keep most users happy for years to come including two heart rate options.

It comes with an excellent warranty for this price bracket, easily better than its rivals with lifetime on the frame AND motor, plus 3 years on site parts and labour.

Review Summary - In Brief

The Horizon Elite 507 is a great machine in our view with a super running deck. The minor gripes we have with it are easily outnumbered by some great features, programmes and the quality feel of it under your feet. And with the new warranty from Horizon on offer it's a very safe bet. Compares favourably with well-known brands costing much more.
