Reebok T4.2 Folding Treadmill Review

The Reebok T4.2 folding treadmill is an exciting new addition to the Reebok Fitness performance series treadmill range.

The first thing that a lucky recipient of one of these machines would notice is that the treadmill arrives in its box mostly assembled. Completing the assembley is only a matter of bolting in the uprights, connecting and screwing in the console! It comes with the tools needed and the entire process can be done in 20 minutes – even by those that have scant DIY skills.

So, starting with the basics: This is a solid and sturday machine with a powerful 2 horsepower motor that makes light work of turning the belt to the maximum speed of the 11.2 mph (18 kph). The speed can be controlled using direct speed keys on the console that allow you to increase or decrease the current speed to 2,3,5,7,9 or 11mph.

The first thing your reviewer noticed was the nice feel of the running deck. Much of this is thanks for the quality of the running deck, which is nicely cushioned, resulting in is less impact to the joints whilst running. The running belt itself is a nice and wide 50cm and the length at 130cm is more than adequate for everyone under 6′ in height.

The folding mechanism is quite different to pretty much all non-Reebok treadmills. When you fold up the running deck (which folds almost vertically to a very compact size), a third leg comes out with a rotating castor wheel. This enables the treadmill to be maneuvered much more easily in comparison with other treadmills that weigh similar levels.

This treadmill offers a maximum incline of 12% (electronic incline) and the level can be controlled through the six direct incline keys on the console (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12%), in addition to the standard up and down buttons for incline.

The console features a blue backlit LCD which is clear and easy to read. The screen provides all of the vital statics ranging from heart rate, speed, incline, distance being run, user profile selected etc. The computer allows the user to setup 9 separate user profiles, which is a perfect way for each family member to save their details. Each profile consists of gender, weight, age and height and additional target heart rate level can be entered.

There are a total of 29 programme variations group together into 6 logical groups: interval incline programme (9 intensity levels), interval speed programme (9 levels), weight loss (9 levels), 5k/3 mile programme and heart rate control (HRC) programme. The HRC programme requires the use of the chest strap that is included with the machine. Heart rate controlled programmes that automatically adjust the speed or incline of the treadmill to keep you in your target heart rate zone are the most effective means of achieving fitness goals.

The Reebok T4.2 treadmill comes the sort of warranty you’d expect from a market leading brand: 10 years on the motor as well as a full 2 years on site parts and labour warranty.

IMPORTANT: Due to the weight of this product, there is risk of the product being damaged if delivered by a one-man delivery service. We can confirm that Sweatband (see below) deliver this product using a pre-booked 2 man delivery service (included in the price).
