York Fitness T101 Heritage Treadmill Review

Best UK Price              Specification              Pros and Cons              Reviewers Ratings

York Fitness T101 Heritage treadmill from SweatbandFitness The York Fitness T101 Heritage treadmill is the entry model to their range - that's marketing speak for the cheapest. York do make quality machines and their Diamond models have made a name for themselves, but the T101 doesn't quite do enough to get it noticed ahead of its rivals.

The top speed of 8 mph makes it suitable only really for walkers or joggers and to be fair it will do everything that you'll need if you fit into this category.

The belt is quite small so you really wouldn't want to run fast on it anyway. However, it does make easy work for the very capable 1.25 HP motor which does give the impression it's barely breaking sweat. York cover all their motors for 10 years under their warranty so they obviously have faith in them.

The T101 comes with 9 pre-set programmes to help you lose weight and build stamina but unfortunately it has only 3 manual incline settings. This means you have to get off and reset the incline level - you can choose 1.5, 4 or 7% gradient. A number of machines in this price range have powered incline which means you can set it by the touch of a button, or the programme changes it for you whilst still running.

It also has pulse monitors in the form of hand grips which is what you'd expect of a treadmill for this price so you can keep a track on your work rate.

The console is well laid out and has a large LCD screen that displays speed, distance, pulse and theoretical calorie burn.

In this price range there is some tough competition in the form of the Proform 3.6 and the Horizon T707, both offer more features and larger running decks for just a little extra outlay.

As with all York equipment the warranty is excellent. It covers the motor for 10 years and everything else for 2 years.

In brief:
YorK Fitness is a tried and tested name in the exercise world and you know that you'll get a reliable machine with them. The T101, as they state in their brochure, is suitable for walkers and light joggers and not aimed at runners. If you're looking to use a treadmill for running see the Proform and Horizon models mentioned above. The T101 does come with an excellent warranty so you won't need to worry about breakdowns and faults, although York have a very good reputation for quality machines anyway. So whilst there is nothing wrong with this model it just didn't get us excited.
