York T102 Heritage Treadmill Review

The York T102 Heritage treadmill is one of York Fitness's lower priced models but still looks just a little over-priced for what you get.

To be fair it is a good machine and has a quality feel about it as do all York's models, but when you compare it to others in the same price bracket it doesn't have as much to offer.

For about £40 less you can get a higher spec machine with the Horizon Treo T707 or the Proform 3.6.

York Fitness does have its devotees and you can see why with this machine. What it can do it does very well. It has a solid feel to it and a good design, but.... it doesn't really have much else.

A top speed of 8mph is sufficient for joggers and walkers but for this price you would expect 10 mph. It does has 9 programmes for variation - very important to keep you motivated - but nothing special such as heart rate controlled programmes or iFit Software its rivals can offer.

The deck is comfortable and feels solid enough but it's small in both length and width compared to others around the same price. If you're new to treadmill running a good sized running deck gives you the confidence to run faster.

The motor is reasonably quiet in operation and seems up to the job and the console unit was easy to read and use if a little dull.

The warranty is very good. It covers the motor for 10 years and everything else for 2 years.

In brief:
The York T102 is a competent machine and has a quality feel about it. The folding mechanism was easy to operate and move around. It's perfectly suitable if you're looking for a reliable machine for walking or jogging, but if you like innovative features and something with a bit of flair the T102 won't satisfy you. If your goal is to get really fit and run a marathon then this is definitely not the model for you.
