York T102 Heritage Treadmill Review

If you are looking for a treadmill from a quality brand at a price that won’t break the bank, you can’t really go wrong with the York T102.

Its top speed of 8mph and powered incline of 10% will offer a challenging workout for most users, whilst the cushioned deck means you can care for your joints whilst working out.

The York T102 is powered by a 1.25 HP continuous duty motor with a peak power of 2.5HP. we found the motor performed much more quietly than expected. We have been on much louder treadmills that cost the same as the T102.

The belt is not one of the largest that we have seen, but at 40cm wide and 120cm long it compares well against others in the same price range.

The motor powers the belt up to 8mph, that’s almost 13kph which is fast enough for most home users. The electric incline responds quickly and sends the incline all the way up to 10%. We think that this, combined with the well cushioned deck will make this treadmill perfect for entry level users who want a quality treadmill that will keep up with them as their fitness levels improve.

The 9 built in programmes use the full range of speed and incline available and give you enough variety to keep your workouts varied, or if you prefer you can opt for full manual control. Quick access keys give manual control over the speed or incline during your workout whilst the direct speed keys require just one touch to change the speed to 4kph, 7kph or 10kph.

During your workout the large LCD screen gives you all the feedback you need to keep on track including time elapsed, current speed, distance covered, theoretical calories burned as well as your current heart rate. The display itself is nice and clear and easy to read.

As you may expect from a machine of this price, heart rate control is not available however the built in pulse grip sensors do allow you to monitor your pulse. Just grab hold of them for a few seconds and then soon after your pulse will be displayed on the screen.

The T102 has a decent maximum user weight too of 120kg, that’s nearly 19 stone so you can be sure that this is well constructed and sturdy machine.

When the workout is over, the T102 folds vertically for easy storage meaning you don’t need to have the treadmill taking up too much space when it is not in use.

York have given peace of mind by providing 2 years cover for parts and labour and 10 years on the motor.

Review Summary - In Brief

The York T102 compares favourably with other treadmills in the price range such as: Weslo compact XL

  • Both treadmills have the same maximum user weight of 120 kg and belt size of 40cm x 120cm
  • The Weslo compact XL has fewer programmes and doesn't have the one touch keys to adjust the speed
Reebok I Run Plus
  • Both treadmills have the same size 120cm x 40cm belt
  • The Reebok Irun has same top speed of 8mph but only a manual incline of 2% and 5%
So in summary, the T102 is a good choice for those starting out on the road to fitness. Its top speed and incline will challenge users up to club level and the cushioning means that even casual users can enjoy a hill walk indoors whilst caring for their joints.
