York Nexus Folding Treadmill Review

The York Nexus treadmill is a compact treadmill with a specification that stacks up nicely against higher priced treadmills. But is it any good?

Let’s start with the basics: At the heart of of this treadmill is a 1.5 HP continuous duty motor that has a peak output of 3HP. For a compact sized treadmill, this provides plenty of power. The treadmill has a top speed of 10 miles per hour and features a powered incline of up to 10%.

The running deck is 43cm wide and 130cm long, which is big enough for the average person to be able to to jog or run. Many budget treadmills have a deck that’s only 40cm by 120cm, which is only really suitable for a fast walk!

Simplicity is the name of the game when it comes to the console. There are two numeric LED windows that display the key information such as exercise time, speed, incline, pulse rate, calorie consumption and distance covered. There are 10 LEDs in the shape of a quarter mile track to view progress.

There are a selection of programmes available on the treamill and the programme profile of each is printed straight on the console itself, making this treadmill super-easy to use. In terms of controlling the speed and incline, there are 3 direct speed keys and 3 direct incline keys on the console as well as speed and incline handlebar controls.

Pulse rate can be measured using the build-in pulse grip sensors and there are a pair of generously sized cup holders either wide of the console and there’s even a pair of speakers (though they are a little tinny).

When not in use, the deck can easily be folded away and there’s even a soft drop feature! York Fitness is one of the best known names in the business and it’s re-assuring to see a 2 year warranty being offered on a treadmill at this price point (though you do need to register the machine with York to get the 2nd year).
