ProForm Power 575i Treadmill Review

For years, Proform has been synonymous with high-quality treadmills that offer outstanding value for money. Their extensive product line caters to everyone, from casual fitness enthusiasts to competitive runners and families seeking a reliable and durable running machine. We took a close up look at the Proform 575i, a mid-range model that, on paper at least, has a lot to offer. Here’s what we found…

After unboxing the Proform 575i (a task in its own right) the the assembly process is, thankfully, easy to follow, and though it’s possible to build this treadmill single handed, we definitely recommend following the instructions and having another person there to help. Fear not though; the well-written instructions and clear diagrams are easy to follow and ensure a smooth setup. In a little under an hour, we were ready to go. Most users should have this model ready to go in next to no time. The old school “shake-test” reveals that this machine feels very sturdy indeed. The addition of a stabilising crossbar also helps out in that regard, delivering additional rigidity and helping to improve durability in the long term.

While the Proform 575i is unlikely to win any beauty contests, its black finish with silver accents exudes a sense of practical elegance. The somewhat industrial aesthetic emphasises function over form, which instils a sense of confidence, and if your main priority is reliability then first impressions here are very good.

Delving into the specifications, the Proform 575i boasts some impressive features, especially for a tread at this price point. With respectable 1.6″ front and rear balanced rollers, the 575i enjoys a sensibly quiet operation (for a treadmill), while the 46cm x 152cm (18” x 60”) running surface provides ample space for even very tall users. Thanks to Proform’s trusted ProShox™ cushioning technology, joint discomfort is minimized, offering a comfortable landing for every stride. Some more hardcore runners might prefer a slightly stiffer deck, but the cushioning here is excellent and if you’ve got sensitive joints, this is definitely a good option and will make a big difference.

Equipped with a 2.75 hp motor, a decently steep incline and a proper sprinting top speed the Proform 575i is more than capable of catering to general home-use needs. Impressively, it’s not particularly loud (we’ll say it again – for a treadmill) even at high speeds which was an unexpected, but pleasant surprise. There’s no doubt that this model can push you to your limits even if you’re quite fit. With a true 10% maximum incline and a top speed of 20 kph (12.4 mph) the 575i can deliver an intense workout experience that will leave you satisfied, and out of breath!

In terms of the workout data and feedback, the 575i features a 5-inch LCD display, ensuring clear visibility of your training statistics under pretty much any lighting conditions. The uncluttered and logically laid-out control panel, including one-touch speed and incline controls, makes mid-run adjustments easy, even at higher running speeds. Thanks to the inclusion of a Bluetooth module, you can connect your tablet or smartphone directly to access the iFit interactive training service to expand your training options.

With an iFit subscription (a free 30-day trial is included), the 575i opens up a world of training possibilities thanks to access to a vast library of over ten thousand workouts, including streamed studio classes led by elite personal trainers and global runs set in an almost ridiculous number of locations worldwide. Whether you’re aiming for weight loss, improved cardio, or HIIT training, the diverse range of options you get with iFit means that you’re really very unlikely to get bored. iFit’s AutoAdjust feature, powered by artificial intelligence, tailors your workouts to your fitness level, ensuring a challenging yet safe experience with each session. Beyond running, iFit now offers yoga, mindfulness, and strength training classes, expanding the type of workout way beyond the treadmill alone. Having had a really good play around with this we can report that it not only works, it works well. Having had first hand experience of playing around with it over a number of weeks, this is a feature we would recommend leaving switched on. Once it’s figured out your fitness levels, it’s both subtle and challenging at the same time and if you stick with it, it will definitely guide you to greater levels of fitness by pushing you just a little harder over time. This is a superb feature and is bound to appeal to anyone who is looking to improve their fitness levels, rather than just maintaining them.

In addition to the iFit option, unlike many other modern Proform machines, the 575i has a range of 24 built-in programmes that are classically arranged. If you’re not into interactive training and don’t like the idea of paying a monthly fee then the 575i has plenty enough onboard workouts to keep you entertained. The workouts are also scalable for difficulty so once you find one you like, you can stick will it and keep challenging yourself as your fitness levels improve. Having onboard workouts also means that you don’t need an internet connection to enjoy pre-programmed workouts, which is something that’s bound to appeal to a lot of potential owners out there.

Despite the old school element of onboard workouts, the Proform 575i impresses with its compatibility with modern elements such as a Bluetooth Smart heart rate receiver, it also boasts integrated Bluetooth speakers, dual water bottle holders, key holder, and tablet holder.

Last but not least, the 575i comes with Proform’s excellent warranty: lifetime cover for the frame, five years cover for the motor, and two years cover for all other parts and labour. In conclusion, while not the flashiest treadmill in appearance, the Proform 575i packs a punch, especially for the price. The components should ensure a good level of durability, while the number of ways to train, as well as the excellent spec makes this an excellent choice for runners of all ages and abilities.
