Proform 1095 ZLT Treadmill Review

The Proform 1095 ZLT treadmill is an exciting treadmill from the fitness giant Icon. A treadmill that has the specs of a machine that would typically sell at £700-£800 that is available for in the budget (£500 or below) category?

Well, the price it’s being offered at just qualifies the machine for being viewed as a budget treadmill, but with an amazing spec, the word ‘budget’ doesn’t seem fitting!

Firstly and importantly, the motor is a powerful continuous duty 2hp, which ensures consistent and smooth operation to the maximum speed of 12.5 mph (20 kph). As well as being the fastest treadmill we’ve seen at this price point, the machine features a maximum incline of 12%

It’s not just the motor, speed & incline that has us excited about this treadmill. A good running machine ought to have a decent running deck. Seems like stating the obvious, but there are so many machines in the budget category that have narrow running decks which are only 40 or 45cm wide. In order to be able to use a treadmill for running, a full width belt is needed – something the Proform 1095 boasts with a running belt that’s 51cm wide! Not only that, the length of the running belt is an impressive 1.4m long.

Another area where this machine impresses is the display on the console, which features clear LED displays which cover the basic feedback functions. Whilst retro looking, LED displays can’t be beaten for clarity and are typically found on much higher priced machines.

This feature packed treadmill has 12 programmes divided into 6 calorie goal programmes and 6 customisable ones. The programme profiles of each of the 12 is printed right on the console itself, making selecting a suitable programme simple. For the customisable programmes, the user may change the duration, minimum and maximum speeds of the selected programme. This level of customisation against this base of 6 pre-set programmes provide for great levels of exercise variety.

Heart rate measurement is carried out using the the pulse grip sensors. For those wanting more accurate heart rate readings, an optional Polar receiver and chest belt transmitter are available.

The warranty is very good for a machine this price bracket: Lifetime frame, 5 years motor, 2 years on-site parts and labour, though you must register your serial number (can be done online) within 28 days of purchase to get the second year.

IMPORTANT: Due to the weight of this product, Proform’s warranty is invalid if delivered by a one-man team without special lifting equipment. We can confirm that Sweatband (see below) complies with the terms of the warranty.

Review Summary - In Brief

The Proform 1095 is simply a treadmill that really shouldn't be a contender in the budget category as it stacks up nicely as a credible offering in the £500-1000 segment. Powerful motor, full sized cushioned running deck, 12% incline, LED display on the console and an excellent range of built-in programmes make this treadmill an absolute bargain! If your budget can stretch a little further, we'd highly recommend considering the Proform 705 ZLT which adds a slighty larger motor, speakers, iFit technology and includes a chest belt as standard for about a hundred pounds more
