Horizon Ti22 Treadmill Review

The Horizon Ti22 treadmill is a stunning looking machine, but can it do what it promises?

It’s price brings it into competition with some very credible machines costing a little extra such as one of our favourites, the Nordictrack C2000 and the feature-packed Proform 585V with its built-in TV!

Well the Ti22 certainly stands out from its rivals with its looks but then it’s swings and roundabouts. The negative being it doesn’t have anything to compete with the iFit personal trainer software that both the NordicTrack and Proform offer. iFit is the innovative training software that’s fast becoming a big favourite in the fitness industry that actually talks you through a variation of training workouts.

Motivation is a huge factor in reaching your goals and we feel iFit can provide just that along with variation to keep you coming back for more.

But then the Horizon Ti22 can hit back with it’s Variable Cushioning System running deck that allows you to change the springiness of the deck to suit your running style – clever stuff, especially on a machine of this cost.

It also includes 6 pre-set programmes including heart rate controlled which does look a bit on the low side when compared to other similarly priced models, but then again you get a superior cushioning system. The Horizon Ti range now use the space-age sounding Nano Technology!?! Basically, this is a special nano zinc oxide anti-bacterial coating means it can effectively clean itself as it kills germs that you’ll sweat all over it during a session!

The running deck is very comfortable but unfortunately might feel a bit short if your the type that has a long running stride. A big plus is the 2 HP Digital Drive motor that can reach the speeds required at lower revs – not sure how this works from a technical point of view but it does it very quietly – something to consider if you’ll be using it in a small room or don’t want to annoy the neighbours.

For those with limited space the Horizon Ti22 does fold up very easily with its hydraulic mechanism and it’s fairly easy to move around as it’s not too heavy at 84kg.

The console looks stylish as always with Horizon and all speed and incline options can be selected with one touch and combine with the digital drive system it’s very quick to respond – see below, so although it’s backlit some may struggle to read it.

It comes with a very good warranty of a lifetime on the frame and motor and three years parts and labour on everything else.

Review Summary - In Brief

The Horizon Ti22 is a quality running machine that certainly looks the part. It's comfortable to run on and has a top speed and incline to give most runners a decent workout. If you like extra features such as training software programmes or TV screens the cupboard is a little bare compared to its close rivals. However, if you regard these as gimmicks the Ti22 is an excellent machine at a very competitive price and possibly a better treadmill when you strip away the 'extras'. In short, we loved it and it's a safe bet buying an Horizon with its excellent motor, looks and comfortable running deck all covered by a very good warranty.
